Growing up in the eighties in my hometown of Sturbridge my family was blessed with a state of the art stereo system. It had a turntable, eight-track player and even a microphone. In the summer, we hosted bbq’s for our family and friends. Dad playing DJ spun the hits from seventies and eighties artists like Billy Joel, Janet Jackson, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Madonna and more. Little did I know that the enjoyment that I experienced would inspire my passion to be a DJ on the radio.
At the young age of 12, I actually felt like I was on the air, when I took my dad’s tape recorder and made mock commercials. I would read the advertisements from my mom’s magazines. Make-up, shampoo and automobile ads, I covered every category.
Flash forward to 1991 when a high school assignment led me to WSRS. Inspired by writing a paper on “living out our dreams,” I actually applied for a job at my favorite radio station WSRS. When I would listen at home and in the car with my family I would dream of
hearing my voice coming out of the speakers. Needless to say, I was turned down because I was 15 and too young. That moment when I left the station and hopped back in the car holding on to my aspiration, I told my dad, “someday, I’ll be back.” I never gave up my dream to be on WSRS. Over the last 21 years I’ve had wonderful experiences on the air in Boston,
Providence, Springfield and most recently Connecticut. Now, words can’t express
how happy I am to work with Greg and to be back in Worcester on the station that started it all for me, 96.1 WSRS!
